Melaghar Town

The main transportation system of the town is Road Transportation. The only important major road is Agartala-Sonamura State Highway (SH-6), that's gone through this town of about 3 km. The main vehicle stand, where the vehicles like Bus Service, Auto-Rickshaw and other small cars (Jeep, Max etc) park for passenger.  Cars and Busses are available to Agartala, Udaipur and Sonamura from here. You have to ride an Auto-Rickshaw if wanna go to any local destinations nearby.

Melaghar currently is a Municipal Council Town in Sepahijala District in the Indian Northeastern State of   Tripura. Converted from a Gram Panchayat in 2014.   Situated on the bank of river Gumati. Co-ordinates are  23.49°N 91.33°E . Situated only 10 kms from Bangladesh border and 50 kms from capital Agartala . Melaghar is famous for its World famous Water Palace Neer Mahal . The town has a population of 20,300 (as per Dainik Sambad   Publishers Apr,2017). 51% males and 49% females. Literacy rate 91%, that's higher than national rate (74%).
